45-Man Delegation For Malawi Friendly?

Ghana is expected to take a delegation of 45 people led by Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi to Swaziland for the friendly against Malawi on Tuesday.

Malawi will take 31 people.

The two teams will be booked at the plush Royal Villas and Lugogo Sun hotel where each room (double) costs over E1 000 ($136). A standard double room at Royal Villas cost E1080($145) excluding lunch and supper whilst at Lugogo Sun hotel where Malawi will be booked, each room costs E1 670($230) for doubles excluding lunch and supper.

Ghana’s accommodation bill stands at E49340 ($6700) including the two suites to be occupied by GFA president, Nyantakyi and match agent, Justin Addo at a cost of E1450($200) per person per night. The total figure (E49 340) excludes lunch and supper expenses.

Ghana also wants an unspecified percentage of the gate collections of the game. It will cost E50 per person to watch the game scheduled for a 7:30pm kick-off time on Tuesday evening.

A meeting between the agents organising the game and the members of the 2010 Local 2010 Committee to finalise the financial implications of the deal is scheduled for today. 2010 Committee Chief Operations Officer, Apollo Maphalala confirmed that they will cover the accommodation expenses of the two teams.

“The financial implications will be clarified when we meet tomorrow (today) but there will be no appearance fee because we only invited them to come and inspect our facilities and they then indicated they would love to play a friendly game,” Maphalala said.

He said the accommodation expenses would be balanced up with gate collections from the game. Asked on the percentage of the gate collections demanded by Ghana, Maph-alala said it was highlighted in their proposal but at this stage they were still to meet and discuss the matter.
