Vodafone Ghana hosts Laureus Academy team in Accra

Accra, Sept. 8, GNA - Laureus World Sports Academy - an association of greatest living sporting legends in the world will from September 9-11, visit Ghana to embark on a number of sporting projects in the country. Members of the Academy who will be hosted by Vodafone Ghana during their stay in the country aim at using the sporting legends to break down barriers, bring people together and improve the lives of young people around the world.

The team will be led my Edwin Moses, Chairman of the group and

Ghanaian born Marcel Desailly, a member. During their two day stay, the Laureus team will visit Orphan Aid Africa, an orphanage at Ayeniah near Dodowa to interact with the inmates. The second day of the visit will see the members organise a coaching clinic for 22 teenagers drawn from various districts within the Greater Accra Region.

The young participants will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of personally interacting with such sporting legends and learn high level skills in

football as well as speed training from the World Cup soccer star, Marcel

Desailly and Athletic Olympic medallist Edwin Moses. The Academy has over the years' organised and supervised a broad array

of community development initiatives funded by the Laureus Sport for Good

Foundation. It also celebrates the 'universal power of sport' to bring people together

as a force for their personal good, passionately embodying the spirit of sport

the pursuit of excellence, overcoming challenges, celebrating achievement

and excellence and winning against odds. 08 Sept. 09
