Appiah linked with Marseille

French giants Olympique Marseille are the latest club to be linked with Ghana captain Stephen Appiah.

The 28-year-old, who has not seen club action since falling out withFenerbahce, is reported to be in talks with officials of the French side.

According to a report in the respected France Football magazine on Saturday, Marseille have been working on the secretly for several days.

The club’s sporting director José Anigo and coach Didier Deschamps are saidto be leading the chase to sing the midfielder.

Even though the Ghana captain is yet to confirm the deal, Fenerbahce will be watching the development in France keenly.

Appiah has not been in competitive club action for some time as he had beenlocked in battle with Fenerbahce at Fifa.

Despite his absence on the club front, he has played several matches for his country since recovering from a knee injury.

He has been linked with clubs in Spain, France, Germany and England while an American side as well as a Romanian club were said to be keen on signing.
