Ghanaian-American Girl Breaks School Record

A 15-year old Ghanaian-American, Maame Efua Quainoo, resident in New Jersey , broke her High School's 37-year old record by leaping 15.1 feet (4.60 meters) in Long Jump.

Maame Quainoo, who attends Sussex County Technical School in Sparta , broke the record which was set in 1972 during the 2009 Sussex County Interscholastic League Championships.

The feat has dazzled the school's authorities who wondered how Ms. Quainoo was able to break the Long Jump record which had stood in the school's record books for close to four decades.

Maame Quainoo who is currently reading Medical Arts and hopes to go to Princeton University , NJ and read medicine attributed her feat to training, perseverance and faith in God.

Maame, who enjoys reading and music and is a High Honor Role Student, is also a member of the school’s long tennis and basketball teams.
