Ghana Navy beats Army

Accra, July 29, GNA - Ghana Navy narrowly defeated Ghana Army 23-22 in the ongoing Week ten league match of the National Handball League played at the Handball Court, Burma Camp, Accra.

It was the Army officers who took the lead in the early minutes of the game, but allowed the Naval officers to bring the score line to 10 all at the close of the first half.

The Naval officers took over in the second half and maintained their determination till the close of the game with the likes of Peter Amegashie, Edmund Nii Lamptey and Kofi Zonyinah being the most outstanding as they capitalized on the poor goalkeeping and suspensions of the Army to hold their own before narrowly beating their rivals. Results of other matches were Hostac Club lost by 21-28 to Fire Service with Police Service shooting pass Future Stars with a 24-10 score whilst Mantse Agbona Stars were whiter washed 9-34 by Prisons Service.

Saka Acquah, Secretary General of the Handball Association in a press release to GNA Sports said the Week 11 league matches continues this week with Fire Service taking on Ghana Navy at the Fire Academy on Thursday, July 31, with Asomdwe Stars battling against Prisons Service at the Sacred Heart School on the same day.

Police Service will play Hostac Stars at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex on Friday August 1, with Mantse Agbona Stars trekking to Burma Camp to try their luck against Ghana Armed Forces on Saturday, August 2.
