Hearts Protest Against Angolan Referees

Defending Champions, Hearts of Oak have protested to CAF about the football controlling body’s appointment of Angolan officials to handle their second leg match against Etoile du Congo.

According to Hearts’ protest, they are arguing that since the winner of Sundays tie would clash with an Angolan side, Petro Athletico, there is the temptation that the Angolan officials, human as they are, would take sides.

“We find the co-incidence too great in view of the potential interest the Angolan referees, human as they are, will have in the match and wish to protest” a statement from the Hearts secretariat signed by Tettey Oku. Hearts of Oak have thus appealed to the Ghana Football Association to bring the issue to the attention of CAF with the view of addressing it.

Meanwhile, a 30man contingent would be leaving Accra today for Brazzaville.
