Manchester City coach keen on Stars job

Manchester City assistant coach Han Backe (pictured on the right with Eriksson) has expressed interest in taking over as the coach of the Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is looking for replacement for Claude Le Roy who will not extend his contract when it expires at the end of the month.

Backe, who is the assistant to Sven Goran Eriksson as the Premiership club, and his agent have contacted over leading the Black Stars to the 2010 World Cup.

The GFA is headhunting a coach to take over and Backe is hoping he can bring his experience to guide the Black Stars.

Before joining Ericksson at Manchester City, Backe won four Danish titles with FC Copenhagen and Aalborg as a coach.

Hans briefly resigned his position at City after a family crisis in Sweden forced him to take compassionate leave shortly into his time at the club, but after a month was able to return at his former post.
