Le Roy accept contract extention

Ghana coach Claude Le Roy has accepted the offer to extend his stay with the Black Stars despite attracting interest from three other countries.

The Ghana Football Association offered a two-year extension to the coach's contract on Saturday but his agent Gael Mahe said the 60-year-old was yet to accept the offer.

The Frenchman has received lucrative offers to coach national teams including Morocco, Senegal and DR Congo but has decided to stay on.

''I'm not in Ghana right now but I spoke to the president I spoke with the vice-president and as soon as I am back we will settle everything to find how to work two more years together,'' Le Roy said.

Le Roy was handed the contract extension even though the Black Stars finshed third at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

The Frenchman is now looking ahead by targeting the 2010 World Cup and Nations Cup places as his priority.

''This team is a very good team. We have a lot of things to do in the next two years. Try to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, try to qualify for the World Cup.

''Even if I recieve a lot of proposals I thought since the beginning that the priority was the Black Stars but after it depends on the position of the GFA.

''Now the position of the GFA is clear. There's a beautiful base to work.''

Le Roy is expected in the middle of next month to finalise the paperwork for his stay as Ghana coach.
