"Spoon feeding era over"- Aryeh

Accra, Feb 19, GNA - Charles Aryeh, Deputy Chief Executive of National Sports Council (NSC) says the era of spoon feeding associations is over.

"The era of spoon feeding is over. Go to town and gather resources to organize programs to promote the disciplines.

"Do not sit down expecting the NSC to get everything for you. You must not only be interested in traveling outside."

Mr. Aryeh urged the associations to contact corporate bodies and seek for sponsorship that would change their fortunes. "There are several corporate bodies that are willing to support sports when presented with the right proposal that is mutually beneficial."

He said plans were far advanced for the associations to be streamlined in the council's quest to inject effectiveness into their activities.

Only committed persons, according to him would be invited to serve on any of the 35 associations under the NSC umbrella. He said his outfit was preoccupied with getting the right people to push the associations to the desired height. "We are constrained in many ways and we cannot continue to totally take care of the associations when we also have the stadia and other facilities to care for."

He encouraged the associations to utilize facilities at the four stadia in Tamale, Accra, Kumasi and Sekondi.
