Le Roy unhappy with Media

Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - Claude Le Roy, head coach of the Black Stars, expressed his unhappiness with the media when he addressed a post-match conference after his team failed to advance to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Stars lost by a lone goal to Cameroon in the semi finals of the competition at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

Quizzed by a journalist from Ken City Media, publishers of National Agenda, as to whether he would resign having failed to fulfil his promise of winning the cup and his decision to include injured Shilla Illiasu in his squad instead of fully fit players, he said, "I think your question lacks humanism and respect for the elderly.

"How old are you and what is your educational background. If I were your father and you asked me a question with this voice, I will not answer you."

Le Roy, who was visibly angry and worried with the outcome of the match, continued: "A young person like you should not ask such a question."

He said: "I will not resign because I have never resigned in my career, I have to conclude my contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA)."

Le Roy said: "I don't want to find an excuse for the defeat, because we were all determined to reach the finals and win the cup, so everybody played a role, its unfortunate our dreams did not materialize."

Le Roy said: "I feel not like today, I have never been sad like this before, because we failed to win this game to advance to the finals of the competition."

Coach Le Roy reckoned that it was a difficult game and they were affected by a lot of factors.

"Mensah's absence really affected us.We could not rely on Shilla Illiasu because he had just recovered and I could not risk him. "Few minutes before the game, we lost Laryea Kingston through injury and I had to make a lot of adjustments to my team. "We tried to find new solutions to new problems at all times, but we were not successful," he stated.
