Trashy Bags to honour Essien and six others

Accra, Feb. 6, GNA - Trashy Bags Company would honour seven players for their outstanding performances at the Ghana 2008 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The Company would also honour the finalist of the competition scheduled for the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Sunday, February 10.

Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars would receive special award if they qualified for the finals. Mr Kwame Osei-Bonsu, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, who announced these in Accra on Wednesday, said the players were Michael Essien and Junior Agogo of Ghana; Didier Drogba, Solomon Kalou and Yaya Toure, Cote d'Ivoire; Rigobert Song and Samuel Eto'o, both of Cameroon. He said the company decided to reward the players as a way of contributing to the development of sports in the country. The Chief Executive Officer said the Company would also ginger up the potentials of up and coming junior players to give of their best by rewarding them for their exploits.

Mr Osei-Bonsu said the company's commitment of ensuring that the stadiums for the Ghana 2008 tournament were kept neat was on course and that they would continue with their task even after the competition. He said as a way of introducing cleanliness into the African continent, the company would hold similar exercises in the next African Cup of Nations scheduled for Angola. Mr Osei-Bonsu implored all to take the issue of sanitation seriously and to help to create awareness so that the environment would be free of filth. 6 Feb. 08
