B/A Minister Commends Black Stars

Space FM, Sunyani - The Brong-Ahafo regional Minister, Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has commended the senior national team, the Black Stars for the wonderful performance so far in the ongoing 26th MTN African Cup of Nations- Ghana 2008.

Mr Baffour Awuah told Space FM in Sunyani moments after Ghana defeated Nigeria in the quarter finals that " the Stars have really lived up to expectations and it is my prayer and hope that the they would continue to excel till they finally lift the cup on February 10.

The regional minister said " the nation has invested so much in the team and it would be great to reap the full benefits of that investment by winning the trophy". He added that both the technical and playing bodies must be seen as ambassadors and must be accorded all courtesies even long after the tournament.

Mr Baffour Awuah said Ghana would sail through smoothly to the finals by overpowering our opponents in the semifinals (Tunisia or Cameroon). He urged fans to celebrate with care since Ghana needs them alive after the tournament to continue with national ddvelopment.

He said" I would appeal to the youth in particular to be level headed when the Stars win. We should avoid excessive alcohol and drive carefully to stay alive ".

The regional minister expressed satisfaction about the massive support the people of the region have shown since the commencement of the competition. He said " it is such support that thwe players would be inspired to die for the nation".

Mr Baffour Awuah added that "anytime I see Ghanaians around the giant screens cheering the team on, I feel great and I know the playing body would deliver the cup on February 10".

The regional minister was instrumental in the provision of several giant screens at vantage points through out the region to enable people watch the Ghana 2008 matches. Most people Space FM have spoken to have commended Mr Baffour Awuah for providing the gian screens. To them watching Ghana play on the giant screens is just like being at the stadium.

A 54 year old opinion leader, Opanin Yaw Osei said " the regional minister has really won my heart with his quality leadership. I hear he even watches the Ghana 2008 matches with the crowd at the jubilee park. That to me is a sign of a great leader who knows how to mix with his people.
