Cameroon First lady flies food to Lions

A special military aircraft of Cameroon's Air force has arrived Tamale, Ghana, with variety of foodstuff from Cameroon. The C130 jet took off in the morning of Saturday, February 2. This gesture, destined for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, taking part in the on-going African Cup of Nations, AFCON, 2008, is at the behest of Cameroon's first lady, Chantal Biya. Accompanying the foodstuff are ten qualified kitchen staff, who are expected to prepare palatable meals for the Lions. The players of Cameroon?s national team had earlier complained of the quality of food they are been served since they arrived Ghana for AFCON.

With the knock-out stage of the competition already underway, Sunday, February 3, the government of Cameroon wants to ensure that their flag bearers, the Indomitable Lions, are fit in all compartments; physically, psychologically, financially, morally, health wise and more.

In 2002, when the Lions qualified for the quarter finals of the AFCON in Mali, Mrs Biya carried out this same exercise. The Lions did win the trophy.

As the Lions look forward to take on their Tunisian counterparts Monday, February 4 at the Tamale Sports Stadium (9:30 PM Cameroon time), the last time the two teams met was at the 2000 AFCON, co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria. The Lions trashed the Carthage Eagles 3-0. It was at the semi-finals in the Accra main stadium. Players like Samuel Fils Eto?o, Joseph D?sir? Job, Geremi Soreille Fotso Njitap and Captain Rigobert Song Bahanack were of that expedition.

Will the Lions be up to the task, this time around, like they did eight years ago? Let?s wait and see!!
