Muntari must adjust to EPL pace -Redknapp

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp admits Sulley Muntari is struggling with the pace of the Premiership.

Redknapp also told the Pompey Site that Muntari will have to be move careful in future with some of his challenges, "Muntari is stretching into challenges and he's got to be careful.

"His first booking was for an innocuous foul on Ronaldo but he should have been a bit more careful with the second one".

The £7 million midfielder was dismissed for a second yellow in last night's 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Muntari took his punishment on the chin — even shaking hands with Refreee Bennett, although how much of that was him taking the proverbial is open for discussion.

That wasn’t quite as surprising seeing the former Udinese player picked up TWELVE yellows and THREE reds last season in Italy.

On his arrival on the South Coast, even he admitted: “Sometimes I go in hard, rough and late.”

Redknapp said: "It's more difficult than you think coming to this league.

"It's a big change for these players. You throw them out there and they have to adapt to the atmosphere and pace of the game.

"Nowhere else in the world is like England. In other countries they pass it across the back and no one bothers them. They knock it around and that is how the game is.

"Here, you get the ball and someone flies into you."

"We are now down to 16 players for next Saturday with Sol Campbell and Noe Pamarot (hamstring) struggling and Linvoy Primus miles away at the moment in his recovery."

"We will miss Muntari as well. It was two yellow cards, the first an innocuous trip when he chased Ronaldo and later when he went in a bit late. He'll have to watch it in English football.
