Asamoah Gyan blames referee for loss

Ghanaian strike ace, Asamoah Gyan, believes that centre referee Abdelrahim El Arjoun should be held responsible for their 2-3 loss to Nigeria. The Udinese of Italy star, who had earlir given his team a 2-1 lead in the match, says their eventual loss was caused by the Moroccan arbiter.

"We had the game under control, but the referee spoilt it for us. He made some questionable calls which unsettled us and gave the advantage to the Nigerian team," he alleged.

"The Nigerians were a good side too but we would have carried the day had they not got some favours from the referee." Gyan was the biggest star on show for the Ghana U-23 side in Sunday's match, having played and scored for the Ghanaian senior team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
