150 to vie for Unilever Golf Trophy

Accra, May 28, GNA - This year's Unilever Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship would come off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, June 9.

Mr Kwesi Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which is opened to amateur golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim Golf clubs, was expected to attract about 150 golfers.

He said Men with Handicap 18 qualify to participate but those with Handicap 24 may play to Handicap 18 while the Ladies who have Handicap 24 will qualify to play, however, those with Handicap 27 may be considered to play at Handicap 24.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye named some of the golfers who would be playing in the competition as Bob Evans, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Kwame Saarah-Mensah, immediate Past Captain of the Club as well as Mike Ezan, President of the Club and Mike Aggrey, a member.

The Ladies section, he said will witness a stiff opposition from Mona Captan, Ama Morgan, Mary Morgan and Beatrice Bempong. Mr Ishmael Yamson, the Board Chairman and Mr Charles Cofie, Chief Executive Officer both of Unilever Ghana Limited will present the ultimate trophy to the winners.
