Baidoo dropped from Queens' final list

Accra, October 24, GNA - Black Queens experienced defender, Elizabeth Baidoo has been dropped from the list of 18 players scheduled for Nigeria on Wednesday, October 25 for this year's African Women's Championship (AWC) that will commence this weekend.

The Chicago-based Robert Morris player was dropped on her own request.

Baidoo, according to information pieced together by the GNA Sports is said to be preparing for her final exams in Business Administration at the Robert Morris College in Chicago, United States of America. Coach Isaac Paha has already named 18 players for the biannual fiesta billed for the Delta State, Nigeria.

The Queens are pitted alongside Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali.

The team to be led by skipper Adjoa Bayor has two foreign based professionals, Mavis Danso and Patricia Ofori, both defenders. Majority of the players that toured the States have been maintained in the team that will hope to wrestle power from their sworn rivals, the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the tourney that spans two weeks. Only two goalkeepers were selected for the competition which has the Nigerians as the defending champions. The players have been requested to report at the GFA Secretariat to be conveyed to the GHANAMAN Centre of Excellence (Prampram) to resuem camping before departing for Nigeria.

The selected players include Gladys Enti, Gladys Quansah, Anita Wiredu-Minta, Saabi Ama, Gloria Oforiwaa, Yaa Avoe, Lydia Ankrah, Adutwumwaa Florence, Aminatu Ibrahim, Doreen Awuah, Florence Okoe, Sheila Okine, Olivia Amoako, Tahiru Rumanatu and Anita Amankwah. The Queens are in Group B and are scheduled to play their Malian counterparts in their first game in Oghara on Sunday, October 29.
