Vipers beat Winneba Windy Professionals

Cape Coast Oct 9, GNA - Cape Coast Venomous Vipers on Sunday moved to the top of the Zone 2B Division One League table with seven points when they beat new entrants, Winneba Windy Professionals 3-1 in their league match played at the Robert Mensah Sports stadium in Cape Coast. Even though Windy Professionals lost the match, they were not disgraced as they matched Vipers boot for boot throughout the proceedings.

Windy Professionals, who have been unable to secure a point after playing three matches, shocked the homesters with an early minute goal scored by their play maker, Bright Lukeman in the 38th minute. The early goal disorganized Vipers and gave the visitors the tonic to probe for more goals but poor finishing up front denied them of any further goals.

Vipers appeared in the picture in the second half and following various raids in their opponents' vital area they earned a foul which outside left Frank Mensah leveled up the scores in the 50th minute. The home side continued to dictate the pace of the game and earned a penalty which their midfielder, Anthony Davis converted to raise the tally to 2-1 in the 65th minute.

In the 70th minute, Windy Professionals forced the tide in their favour and made frantic efforts to equalize but their hopes were dashed when Vipers increased their tally to 3-1 through full back Stephen Darko, in the 75th minute in a goal mouth melee. Results of other league matches were Samartex drew 1 96 1 against TARKWA Real United, Odupong Heroes lost 0 96 2 to METRO STARS.
