Exercise caution on Le Roy's saga - Sportnet boss

Accra, Oct. 9, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been cautioned against passing any premature judgment on the newly appointed coach of the Black Stars, Claude Le Roy, who is currently under investigation in his country, France for allegedly dealing in player transfer and falsification of documents ten years ago. The call comes in the wake of suggestions from certain quarters suggesting the sack of the coach after the Frenchman was arrested and detained in France about two weeks ago.

Speaking in an interview with the GNA Sports in Accra, Mr Dan Aseidu Asare, Chief Executive of Sportnet, dealers in sports wares and agents for kits manufacturing company, Puma, for the sale of replica jerseys of the Black Stars said, it will be disastrous for the coach to be sacked since it has negative legal implications.

According Mr Aseidu Asare it will be prudent for the coach to be allowed to concentrate on his job whilst the law takes its due process. He said the country risk facing legal actions from the coach if the case turns in his favour.

Mr Aseidu Asare said calls for the sack of the coach are too early, hence the need for the FA to restrain itself from taking any hasty decision.

The Sportnet boss said the most appropriate time to dispose the services of the coach is when he is found guilty by the law court. The FA is yet to come out with an official statement on the issue since most of the members of the Executive Committee are out of the country attending to various international assignments.

Coach Le Roy was employed by the GFA about a month ago after the departure of Ratomir Djukovic.

The Frenchman supervised the team to its lone goal victory over Japan and followed it up with a 3-1 trouncing of another Asian side, South Korea.

Le Roy has been tasked with the responsibility of preparing a formidable Black Stars squad to win the 2008 Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ghana.
