Hearts to build own stadium

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has taken steps to construct their own training grounds and stadium at Pobiman, to end the present hustle for a place to honour their home matches following the renovation exercises going on at the Ohene Djan and El-Wak stadia in Accra.

The club is currently working out proposals on the scheduled of events, project structure, sponsorship, financial consultants reports and other details for the commencement of the project.

This follows successful discussions between Mr E.N. Commodore, Board Chairman and Mr Clifford Headley of Green Grass Technology, the company charged with the responsibility of constructing the football pitch at the El Wak Stadium.

A statement signed by Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts said Mr Headley had made a visit to the Pobiman site after the discussion with the board chairman.

Mr Tettey-Oku expressed the hope that the project would ease the burden of the club, as the absence of the national stadium has created a nomadic situation that has compelled the club to travel so many miles to Obuasi and Ho for both local and international matches, a situation which has affected the performance of the team.

Hearts adopted the Ho stadium for their home matches in the premiership, whilst the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi was used for their continental matches.
