This Weekend's Africa U-17 Qualifier

IF THERE is any game the Black Starlets must go the extra mile to snatch victory then, it is their last qualifier against their Guinean opponents this weekend in Conakry.

All the Starlets need is a draw to book a place in the Togo showpiece, next year in Lome. Even if they lose 0-1, they will still make it to the Africa U-17 Championship slated for Togo.

But, a two unanswered goals will spell doom for the Ghanaians because of the late goal they conceded in the first leg in Sunyani.

The Ghanaians defeated their opponents 3-1 in the first leg. It was the Ghanaians who fetched the opener in the fist half. They increased the tally with two goals after the break, but complacency crept into the Starlets game, allowing their opponents to pull one back.

The danger to miss the Togo wagon is what has psyched up Coach Bashiru Hayford and charges to play above themselves to gain qualification.

Indeed, the striking prowess of three-goal hero, Ransford Osei is an advantage to the Starlets whose tactical brilliance places their opponents deep into their shadows in this encounter.

That notwithstanding, the Starlets, conscious of uncertainties in the game have purposed to thread cautiously to avoid any shipwreck.

Blessed with intelligent performers like Samuel Ayisi, David Addo, Kelvin Owusu Bossman, among others, the Starlets are likely to go past Sekou Toure and others.
