Liberty dreams of Premiership title - Sly Tetteh

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA 96 Despite a faulty start on the opening day of the Onetouch Premiership, Dansoman based Liberty Professionals are still optimistic of topping the standings at the end of the season. Board President, Alhaji Sly Tetteh said the 1-2 loss to new entrants, Gamba All Blacks on the opening day was a wake call to the management, the technical team and the players to rise up to the challenges and high demands of the premier league.

He said it would be worthy for the club to celebrate its 10 years of existence with a silverware on the local scene, as it had gathered quite a few from other parts of the world.

The President said they had resolved to claim the championship diadem and was optimistic that they would discover their form and finish on top of the standings in the 16 team league.

Alhaji Tetteh said having acquired a parcel of land for the construction of the stadium near Dodowa, all that was left how to raise the required funds to meet the cost of the project. He said despite the enormousness of the project and the difficulty in sourcing for funds, they would not shelve the idea but pursue it more vigorously to its logical conclusion.

The President called on lovers of good football to patronise their home matches at Dansoman in order to derive respite after a hard week's work and to serve as an encouragement to the players, adding that the game of football thrives on the goodwill of the fans. 31 Aug 06
