GOC congratulates Athletes

Accra, Aug 16. GNA- The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has congratulated the Ghanaian Athletic contingent to the just ended African Athletics Championship in Mauritius on their wonderful performance. In a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Secretary General, Mr Albert Tetteh, the GOC said, 93We also congratulate the chairman of the Athletic Association, Mr.Sandy Osei Agyemang for his dynamism and leadership qualities which inspired the athletes to make Ghana proud."

In all, Ghana won six medals, four gold and two bronze, which the committee said was no mean achievement.

The statement said the GOC was very happy that Vida Anim had found her rhythm, culminating in her winning two gold medals in 100m, 200m and then powered the women 4x100m team to clinch another Gold medal. The committee further stated that it was very happy that Vida had now joined the GOLDEN performers like Ignisious Gaisah and Margaret Simpson, who could not make it to the championship.
