We owe Dujkovic only $10,000

Accra, July 20, GNA - Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), on Thursday revealed that the Association's only outstanding financial obligation to the departed coach of the senior national team, Ratomir Dujkovic, was $10,000.

Addressing Congress of the Ghana Football Association in Accra, the FA President said the amount was arrived at after reconciliation of the financial obligations of the two parties involved.

The FA President said at the time of the coach's departure, the association owed him $115,000 representing $100,0000 outstanding from his $400,000, World Cup qualification bonus and $15,000 being his salary for July.

He said the coach owed the association $60,000 from a loan he took sometime back. This, in addition to the $45,000 which he forfeits for failing to give the FA a three-month notice before leaving, brought the total amount the coach owes the Association to $105,000. This means the only outstanding payment the FA will have to make to the coach is $10,000.

The contract between the GFA and the Coach states that in case one of the parties wants to abrogate the contract, he should serve the other three months notice.

Failure to do this would result in the defaulting party paying the other $45,000 being three months salary.

The Coach who qualified Ghana to its first World Cup finals, enjoyed a love hate relationship with the media which took a turn for the worse when the Black Stars failed to make it through to the second round of last January's African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Many allegations were levelled against him including being a player agent. He was therefore accused of selecting players he represented to play at the Nations Cup for them to have exposure in order to sell them. Another allegation was that he lost control of the team in Egypt allowing player agents to invade the camp of the team making the payers lose focus.

The coach on many platforms denied these allegations but these did not end the wave of allegations.

But the Serbian Coach made amends at the just-ended World Cup guiding the team to two impressive wins over the Czech Republic and the United States of America to qualify the team for the second round as the only African representative.

Coach Dujkovic surprised everybody when he abandoned his job after talks to extend his contract broke down. He left citing his health as his reason for leaving his job. 20 July 06
