GFA Congress comes off on Wednesday

Accra, July 18, GNA 96 The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Ordinary Congress will commence on Wednesday, July 19, at the Civil Servants Association Conference room to deliberate on pertinent issues and preparations for the 2006/7 soccer season.

The two day congress, which starts at 9:00 am each day, will end on Thursday, July 20.

About 123 members are expected to attend the Congress, which serves as the highest decision making body of the Association. The delegates expected to attend the Congress includes two representatives each from the Premier League clubs, one from the 48 Division One Clubs whilst the Regional Football Associations would have a representation of three delegates each.

The Constituent bodies of the Coaches and Referees Associations, Players Association, Women Football and National Juvenile Association will each send two delegates to the Congress.

The Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Schools and Colleges and Tertiary Institutions and Sport Association will be represented by one representative.

Among the issues expected to dominate discussions at the Congress are new proposals for the 2006/7 soccer season.

These include registration of colours of jerseys with the names of registered players inscribed at the back by each of the participating Clubs in the premiership.

Also on the agenda is the date for the commencement of the 2006/7 premiership, which has now been synchronised with that of the European system.
