Kuffour returns to training

Wurzburg, June 15, GNA - Samunel Osei Kuffour returned to training on Wednesday hoping to lift the gloom that engulfed him after his error in the World Cup opener gifted Italy their second goal. The Ghanaians lost the game 2-0.

The AS Roma defender sat out training on Tuesday in a move coach Ratomir Djukovic discribed as 'Our way of supporting him since he is obviously suffering more than anybody after that incident.'

The player however trained on Wednesday in a way that clearly depicted he had overcome what he told the GNA Sports was a nightmare. The 29-year old Kuffour hopes to make amends and a great impression when the Stars step up against Czech Republic in their second group game billed for Colone on Saturday.

The former Bayer Munich star who apologized for the error after the game told the GNA Sports in Wurzburg that 'my prime aim is to play very well on Saturday and pray for the favour of God to enable us to win.'

The player until that second half blunder had fared very well in the game as he confronted club team-mate Francisco Totti and others. He steps out in Colone on Saturday, believing the Stars have the quality to win and hoping they could avoid mistakes and get the goals to make their chances in the group better.
Kuffour appeared very fit and committed at training on Wednesday and looked likely to pair John Mensah in central defence, baring any last minute hitches.
