GFA Denies Doya?s 15-Man Squad

The Ghana Football Association has denied reports that the Head Coach of the Black Stars has named fifteen players, as his core squad ahead of the World Cup finals in Germany.

Earlier reports by a section of the media indicated that the Head Coach has named fifteen players who have been guaranteed automatic places in the World Cup squad and that frantic efforts are being made to select an additional eight to complete the list for submission on May 15.

FA Spokesperson Randy Abbey, denied the reports insisting that what the Association has is a provisional list of forty players that the Coach intends to select a final twenty three from.

He further revealed that players like Stephen Appiah and Michael Essien are probably the only certainties.

?What we know is a provisional list of forty players, with twenty three yet to be official named.

?The fact that we know Appiah will make it because he is the captain and Essien too does not give us the right to know the rest?, he added.

The Coach is expected to use the remaining friendly matches to settle on his final list of 23 for the soccer fiesta.
