New Sports Council Boss vows to re-energise

Accra, Mar 7, GNA - Prince Oduro-Mensah, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) has vowed to re-focus the Council on strategic infrastructure development in the promotion of sports in the country.

He said he would also in addition seek for sound financial management, capacity building and utilization, vigorous marketing and sponsorship drive and technical expertise so that the dominant influence of sports can be felt throughout the country.

Prince Oduro-Mensah who said this at a durbar organised to introduce him to the workers of the Council in Accra therefore called for the total support of all stakeholders towards achieving the goals of Government policy on Sports.

Dr Henry Pufaa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NSC who introduced the new CEO to the workers, hailed the current high morale prevailing among the staff and urged them to continue with it for the progress of sports and the success of the organisation. He said the position which was a substantive one, has now reached a new dimension which signifies a clear departure from the past 20 years of acting positions for the Council.

Dr Pufaa called on the staff to support the new CEO to ensure progress and development of activities of the Council. He disclosed that the immediate past acting Chief Executive, Mr Charles James Aryeh has been elevated to the position of Chief Administrative Officer of the NSC.

Mr Aryeh pledged his total support and assured that every effort would be be made to ensure success at the Council. He mentioned the apparent lack of facilities and funds as major constraints facing the promotion and development of sports in the country and urged the Chief Executive Officer to work assiduously to tackle them.

The Chairman of the Senior Staff Association and leadership of the local Trades Union pledged their support to bring Ghana sports forward.
