Accra Hearts Oak midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has said that the opportunities that come with playing abroad make it irresistible for players on the local scene.

Nettey joined Hearts on a free transfer at the start of the scrapped season and excelled before the league fell to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 23-year-old’s performance is likely to earn him suitors abroad and he wouldn’t blink at the chance of ditching Hearts for a club outside the country.

Though he is currently focused on Hearts, Nettey says playing abroad is his target.

He tells GhanaWeb TV's Sports Check program that the lure of playing broad is too much for any player to resist.

According to him playing abroad does not only enhances your financial status as a player but also enhances your chances of earning a national team call-up.

“That is every footballer’s target as far we are in Ghana. When you travel out there you gain the exposure and the money and whatever you need out there. Any footballer in Ghana will jump at the chance of travelling and I’m one of these people. I just need to do my best for Hearts and I will see what the future holds”, he said.

Nettey on the same programme talked up Hearts as the biggest club in the country.

Nettey reckons despite Kotoko’s dominance on the local scene, Hearts edge them with their continental achievements.

“It’s been a joy and I’m really happy donning the colors of Hearts of Oak because this is one of the biggest clubs in Africa and the biggest club in Ghana because they are continental club masters. It is my opinion and its what I believe in. We are the biggest club in Ghana”.

“I grew up as a Hearts fan but had to play other clubs because I believe in the timing of God. If I had rushed to play, maybe I wouldn’t be making waves like now. We plan but God decides and He says this is the time for me to play for Hearts of Oak”, he said.
