Yakubu Moro suspects foul play

The owner and bankroller of Brekum based football club Brekum Arsenal, Alhaj Yakubu Moro says he smells something fishy between Wassaman United and Bechem United in the on-going protest case before the GFA’s judicial review committee.

Alhaji Yakubu Moro told Fider Sports in a telephone interview last Thursday that it beat his imagination that the Chief Executive Officer of Bechem United, Kingsley Osei-Bonso should become fixated about a protest case only after they had gone on relegation.

He said long before the Glo premiere league started, the Professional League Board (PLB) had laid down the rules and the grounds upon which protest could be made, adding that per those rules he did not think Bechem were going to be successful.

On whether he thought there was a grand plan by some elements to see his team go on relegation because of the perceived hooliganism that Arsenal’s home matches have become characterised with, Mr Yakubu said, “In the first place, those allegations were false; what we do at the Golden City Park is what all other teams do-making sure we don’t drop points at home”. He said if there were any such plans to push them to relegation, it was going to fail.

Brekum Arsenal has, since last two seasons, been flirting with relegation and only managed to finish this year’s premiere league with a point ahead of Wassaman United who are battling fellow relegated side Bechem United for fielding an unqualified player.
