Workshop on developing leaders through sports

Accra, Oct 30, GNA - The British Council in Ghana will on November 13, hold a one-day workshop on a sports programme dubbed "Dreams and Teams" aimed at developing the youth in Ghana through sports.

The workshop will discuss how best the future of the programme, which has been in existence for the past two years in the Nima/Mamobi communities, can be shaped to benefit more Ghanaian children. The workshop which will be held at the British Council would give participants the opportunity to present papers on the previous projects held and seek ways of helping Ghana to adopt the programme.

Mr Andrew Battomer, project coordinator at the British Council, said in a statement that the council hopes to extend the programme to the Ashiedu Keteke area in order to involve more children in the project.

He said many Ghanaians who saw the programme are convinced that it will benefit the children and help develop them to become good leaders through sports.

The council held its last Sports Festival at the Maamobi Cultural Park which attracted more than 300 children from ten schools in the Nima/Mamoobi communities.

Among the games they participated in are, football, handball, treasure chest and ampe.
