Workshop for Greater Accra Region Sports Coaches

GT. ACCRA REG. SPORTS AUTHORITY FIRST EVER PEER-REVIEW WORKSHOP FOR REGIONAL COACHESAND DISTRICT SPORTS DIRECTORS

The Greater Accra Regional Sports Authority will hold its first Ever Peer Review Workshop for Regional Coaches, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Sports Directors on Tuesday, 28th January, 2014 from 9:00a.m.prompt to 5:30p.m at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The objective of the workshop is to appraise the performance of our Regional Coaches, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Sports Directors through peer review based on the current rudiments of respective sports administered in the region including knowledge on the Sport, Development and Promotional activities engaged in during the past year.

According to Kwame Amponfi Jr. Acting Regional Sports Director, the exercise which is the first in the series to be held annually would be under the distinguished joint patronage of Hon. Julius Debrah – Greater Accra Regional Minister and Ms. Alice Attipoe – the Ag. Director-General of the National Sports Authority.

Thirteen (13) out of the thirty-five (35) Sporting Disciplines whose coaches have been selected for the Peer-review include; Volleyball, Tennis, Handball, Table Tennis, Disable Sports (Goalball), Rugby, Basketball, Athletics, Swimming, Cycling, Weightlifting, Boxing and Soccer.

Over 86 participants expected at the workshop will also be lectured on laws and procedures governing public procurement, preparation of Action Plan, minutes and report writing, basics of sports nutrition and sports injury management as well as workplace HIV/AIDS education and management.

Eminent Resource Persons expected at the workshop include Mr. Williams Nyamkye - Procurement Officer of NSA, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr; Ag. Regional Director of Sports – NSA, Gt. Accra; Dr. Prince Pambo; Head of Medical Directorate, NSA and Dr. Opata; Ghana Health Service – Greater Accra Region.

Kwame Amponfi Jr. said barring any unforeseen circumstances, "we look forward to having a very successful and educative workshop that will boost the capacity of participants and improve upon their efficiency as far as sports development and promotion in the Greater Accra Region is concerned".
