Enchi (W/R) Nov.6 GNA - Enchi Soccer Wise Professionals, a Western Region Second Division football club beat their more fancied opponents Prestea Mine Stars by two goals to one in a friendly soccer encounter at Enchi on Saturday.
Mine Stars were first to score in the 15th minute after putting up a brilliant performance to unsettle their host.
They continued to maintain their superiority but could not utilise the chances that came their way to increase the goal tally. Wise Professionals after the recess gradually warmed themselves into the game and with quick inter-positional passes dominated the proceedings.
Their approach paid off for them when in the 64th minute, striker Silas Osei after going round three defenders was brought down in the vital area.
The resultant penalty was expertly coveted by left-winger Nana Kofi Acheampong.
Wise Professionals went into the lead when substitute mid-fielder Kwame Amoako found the net in the 72nd minute. Mine Stars fought hard in an effort to redeem their image but the unyielding defence of Wise Professionals were resolute and denied the visitors from getting the much-needed equaliser. In a related development, First Division campaigners, Sambreboi Samartex FC were held to a goalless draw in their match against host team Enchi FC Roma in a friendly match at Enchi. Both teams put up a splendid performance and created scoring chances but none of them could utilise the chances that came their way.
