Accra, Aug 4, GNA - Ashgold sits atop of the Ghalca Top Four summit after two games but Coach David Duncan yet insists winning the trophy is only a remote dream.
Coach Duncan's team remains the only side with a win in the two games so far played but the tough talking coach tells GNA Sports his priority is to strike a good balance between the old and new players as he readies for the season ahead.
The Coach transformed an Ashgold side that escaped relegation by
the teeth two seasons ago to one that took the Premiership by storm a
year after and only lost the Premiership title on the head-to-head count
to get a place in the Top Four tourney.
Coach Duncan says whiles winning the trophy would be a major bonus
and boost to the team; he is preoccupied with learning about the
strengths and weaknesses of his charges with the tourney.
Ashgold hosts Hearts of Oak on match day three in Obuasi on Sunday
and Coach Duncan said plotting the right strategy to contain the
Phobians and hit the Club's stride with time remains his guiding
principle.
"I hope we get it right from the start knowing if the Phobians score
first it will be difficult; but how we respond will be equally crucial".
Ashgold beat Aduana Stars in Obuasi in the tourney's opener and
drew goalless with Kpando Heart of Lions to stay on top of the four-team
competition on four points.
