William Amamoo to Change Nationality?

Former Heart of Lions and national under- 21 goalkeeper William Amamoo is in a dilemma as to whether to take a Romanian Nationality or not, writes Ekow Omagbemi Arthur.
Speaking to the agile goalie yesterday on phone from Romania, he revealed that there is a lot of pressure on him from the Romanian FA to feature for their national Under-23 team.
According to him he has already played one friendly match for the Romanian Under -23 team and he was in post for the entire duration of the game which they won.
He stated that the pressure on him pushed him to play in that friendly game against a club side but for now he is confused as to what decision to take concerning this issue.
?I have been having a sleepless night over this whole issue and I have spoken to my father and my manager and they have both advised me not to do it since I am still eligible to play for the Black Meteors and the Black Stars but the pressure from their FA keeps on mountain day after day and I am in a confused state.?
Amamoo who has been in Romania for sometime now played in the just ended Romania Annual Winter and Super Cup competition. His performance in the competition earned him the best player award and he was awarded a certificate and a trophy by the organisers.
Quizzed what took him to Romania, the former Heart of Lions goalkeeper said his Manager, Eddy Nwaffor who is based in Holland secured a deal for him over there but the deal fell through.
? The deal fell through because I failed my medicals due to the deep cut I had in the match against Ebusua Dwarfs in the National middle league which kept me out of action for one month and the waist injury I sustained against Accra Great Olympics at Kpando all contributed to the lost of the big contract I had in my first month in Romania. I thank God I am alright now and my performance in the winter games which saw me winning the best player award of the competition attest to the fact that all is alright with me now and I am looking forward to a new deal?, he stated.
He, however, revealed that two clubs Apollon Limassol of Cyprus and Altay of Turkey have all shown interest in his services but mentioned that the Cyprus deal is better than the Turkish one and if all things go well, inshallahu he will be leaving for Cyprus early next month for medicals since that deal is an outright contract.?Although two Romania clubs approached me after the Annual winter competition I turned them down because the deal was not better than the Cyprus one?.
Amamoo who was a member of the Black Satellites team that won Silver in Argentina under Coach E.K Afranie in 2001 joined Kpando Heart of Lions from Dawu Youngsters. He played a major role in qualifying the kpando team for the premier league.
With our goalkeeping problem still unsolved it will be a big blow to the nation if we should loss such a talented goalkeeper to Romania.
