Why Berekum Chelsea will retain the league title

After watching Asante Kotoko in two league cup finals, my prediction straight away as a writer is that Berekum Chelsea are going to defend the Glo Ghana Premier League title they won last season.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, since Dr. K.K. Sarpong took over as a Board Chairman, transformed the team as the only team that could trouble Chelsea from defending the league title. But for some time now, looking at the performance of the team in the recent 2 cup finals, I can boldly say Chelsea are going to dominate the Ghanaian top flight league for a long time to come.

Kotoko with their best players lost to Chelsea and Nania in the President’s Cup and FA Cup respectively so what will happen if what their Board Chairman K.K. Sarpong said that they will sell some of the stars is anything to go by then the league will be one sided again next season for Chelsea.

Any Ghanaian club who wants to learn how a club is organized with a professional touch should visit Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah, the chief Executive Officer of this glorious club Chelsea at Obinka Village, Berekum.

Chelsea, after winning the league, are still having the core of the team around and have also added some other talented players like Nana Poku of Arsenal fame, as well as experienced players like Charles Taylor and Baba Amando at their disposal to conquer Africa in the upcoming CAF Champions’ League. And if a whole Charles Taylor, after watching Chelsea beat Kotoko in the President’s Cup from the stands, could make the remark that he himself “has work to do before he can be selected for the first team,” then you could understand why I am bragging in support of Chelsea.

Currently, no Ghanaian team will surpass Chelsea for any other club in Ghana here. What makes their ambition more alive is the way they are touring Somanya – Eastern Region to recruit young talents for their Under 20 and no wonder Chelsea U-20 team did conquer Europe when they participated in the recent Yokohama Cup in ltaly. So you can see that the U-20 team will be the feeding grounds for the senior side in future.

Any serious club has its own stadium and Chelsea is no different. From next season the team will be playing their matches in their own stadium at Benkasa, a suburb of Berekum.

Very soon the team will also have a competent man in the person of Oduro Sarfo as their Accra representative whilst they are also anticipating a welcome back for their white coach Steven Polack for a technical directorship position.

For CEO Nana Kwame Nketiah, it’s clear that very soon, the other clubs in Brong Ahafo Region will consult him for football administrative clinics because he is the best we have in the region. Kudos to him and the whole Chelsea staff especially President of the club, Mr. Kyeremeh.
