Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee member Frank Nwokolo Nelson has said there are equally competent replacements for Kwesi Nyantakyi should he decide not to run again for the association's presidency in 2019.

Graphic Sports on Tuesday reported Mr Nyantakyi's intention of stepping down in 2019 amid calls from critics to resign from his presidential post.

In an interview with Class Sports, Mr Nelson noted that the GFA president was yet to communicate officially on the report but mentioned that should he decide not to contest the 2019 presidential elections there are worthy candidates on the executive and management committees to replace him.

"There are people who have the capacity to replace him [Kwesi Nyantakyi], people who have been in management position for years in the executive and management committees, and they have the traits to run the day-to-day administration of the GFA,” he stated.

"All we need is to be united behind whoever takes over the driving seat and foster the main aim of developing football in the country. There are competent hands all over to replace him should he announce his resignation officially."

Mr Nyantakyi was recently re-elected as an Executive Committee member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is reportedly in line to become the next vice president pending approval from the CAF Executive Committee on April 11 after recommendation from new president Ahmad Ahmad.
