We’re not interested in KP Boateng – Marsch

The New York Red Bulls boss has disclosed that they will not sign the embattled Ghana midfielder

New York Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch has rubbished rumours linking Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng to his side by claiming he is happy with the players at his disposal and does not need any inclusion.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who is on indefinite suspension from Ghana national team since June 2014, was given a garden leave at his club Schalke 04 on Monday following their shock 1-0 defeat to Koln a day earlier.

There have been reports that the former Milan man is on the radar of the MLS giants, who could make a swoop for him next month. However, the manager of the New Jersey-based outfit insists there is no iota of truth in those rumours.

“Boateng to New York Red Bulls isn’t happening. I'm focused on the group we have,” Marsch told mls.com.

Boateng joined Schalke 04 in 2013 from Milan, and was named best player of the Bundesliga side the same year following an impressive performance. However, he has been unable to maintain that form in consecutive seasons at the club.

He has failed to find the back of the net in 18 appearances this term and has lost his first team spot to German teenager Max Meyer.

Notwithstanding, clubs like New York City FC, Galatasaray and Lazio have shown strong interest in the former Tottenham and Portsmouth player.

Meanwhile, a return to San Siro where he enjoyed cult status is also a possibility, according to reports.
