We'll bounce back - Zambia coach warns Ghana

Zambia coach Herve Renard has warned Ghana that their 2014 World Cup chances are bright despite losing to Lesotho insisting that they will fight the Black Stars for the group’s only ticket.

The French was a disappointed that his team failed to beat Lesotho to improve their chances of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Chipolopolo were held to a one-all draw by the Crocodiles in their Group D clash on Sunday while Ghana thrashed Sudan 4-0 to revive the hopes of the Black Stars in the group.

The results of the weekend’s matches mean that Ghana are just one point behind Zambia even though they Chipolopolo were awarded three points after losing against Sudan.

Renard says he is disappointed they did not beat Lesotho to have a good chance of advancing but insists they will fight to the end.

“We are very disappointed because all we wanted was a win in this match, but I should also give credit to Lesotho because they gave us a tough match,” he said.

“We did not do that badly, however a win could have boosted our chance of securing a world cup ticket.”

The Frenchman added: “I’m confident we will make them pay when we meet again in Zambia in June because the fight for the World Cup place is not over. We will fight to the end.

“Our team should also be praised for their ability to absorb the pressure playing away from home and going into the lead when they were a man down,” he added.
