Hearts of Oak’s coach Herbert Addo is convinced his team has the quality to win future laurels despite exiting the Confederations Cup 1-5 on aggregate to Esperance du Tunis.
Addo said after the Phobians failed to overturn a 0-4 deficit in their reverse fixture played at the Accra Sports Stadium that “I think we have a good team that if we continue like this I strongly believe that in future we will do well in competitions of this nature.”
Hearts drew the match one-all despite a third minute header by Isaac Mensah giving the supporters that throng the arena a measure of hope for the game they dubbed “the Miracle of Accra.”
Addo, like the team’s followers was disappointed at the results after his charges wasted several opportunities.
“I am disappointed in a way because when we came back from the Tunisia, we worked on goal scoring knowing very well we were going to need more goals to qualify but we scored only one.
“We created a lot of chances but my boys lacked the experience needed to score. Technically and tactically we all saw the difference between the two teams, Esperance are ahead of us in terms of experience.”
The 2004 maiden winners of the Confederation's Cup title were chasing a slot at the group stage of the competition.
