The Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Bawa Majeed has charged the Black Queens to go all out for victory in their final Group A game against Cameroon.

A shocking defeat to Mali on Tuesday means the Queens must beat Cameroon and hope for a favourable scoreline in the other group game to progress to the next round of the competition.

With elimination staring them in the face amidst criticism from a section of Ghanaians after Tuesday’s defeat, the Queens needed motivation and confidence and the NSA Director and his board members have given them enough that.

Majeed Bawa in the company of board chair, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and other board members paid a visit to the team at their camping base to assure them of the belief the nation has in them.

Bawa charged the Queens to rise above the doubts and negativity and pull off a performance that will keep Ghana’s host and mantra alive.

“As the institution in charge of sports in Ghana, it is our responsibility to pay this courtesy call to interact with you and to assure you that the whole country is behind you. A day before the opening match, Ghanaians prayed and fasted for our success. Truly we won the match. Our second match was not too good but we are not discouraged. We believe in your capacity. We believe that you are eager and ready to die for mother Ghana and the whole country is behind you”.

“Our game tomorrow is going to be the finals before the finals. That is going decide whether we are in or we are out. We are hosting to win and we can only win if we win our match tomorrow. Which is the reason why we are here today. To motivate you and to let you know that Ghana is behind you, he said.

Board chairman of the NSA, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang promised the Queens of an ‘unprecedented’ reward package should they win the trophy.

He encouraged the team to give everything on the field tomorrow and put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.

The game will kick off at 4:00pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
