New Panathinaikos signing Mubarak Wakaso is optimistic of seeing regular action when the season commences.
The Ghanaian completed a three-year move to the Greens from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan last week, following a season-long loan at Spanish club Las Palmas.
"It was the coach [Argyris Pedoulakis] who approached me, not the club," Wakaso told Joy Sports.
"He initially wanted me to join last season, but I couldn’t join them.
"I weighed up my options and I realized moving here was good for me since it was the coach who called me to join."
Wakaso made 20 La Liga appearances last season, netting once.
He continued: "He has assured me of match playing time, so I am really looking forward to that.
"He also told me he needs a player like me for the formation he wants to play.
"He had been watching me since my days at Espanyol."
Following a spell with Ashanti Gold in his homeland, Wakaso transferred to Spanish side Elche in 2008, before stints with Villarreal and Espanyol.
The 25-year-old then joined Rubin in 2013, but was forced out on loan to Scottish giants Celtic the following year, after struggling for regular action.
