The Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially unveiled the Black Stars' 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday, June 1, after injury concerns delayed the announcement by a day. 🫶🏾 26 Men. One Mission! 🇬🇭🏆
Head coach Carlos Queiroz revealed the squad during a media briefing as Ghana completed preparations for its final pre-World Cup friendly against Wales.
The unveiling generated significant discussion among fans, with several notable inclusions and omissions dominating the conversation.
Captain Jordan Ayew leads the squad alongside experienced stars Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Home-based goalkeeper Benjamin Asare also earned a place in the final squad after impressive performances this season.
However, the announcement was overshadowed by the absence of Kudus Mohammed, who failed to recover from a thigh injury sustained earlier in the year.
Defender Mohammed Salisu also missed out due to an ACL injury, while injured centre-back Alexander Djiku was replaced by Derrick Luckassen in the final selection.
One of the major talking points from the unveiling was the return of veteran left-back Baba Abdul Rahman, who makes a World Cup squad again after featuring at the 2022 tournament.
The Black Stars are preparing for their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. Ghana will open its campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England and Croatia in the group stage.
