Vice President national soccer team of total support

The Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has assured the senior national team the Black stars of a better future, since he and the President are passionate soccer follower and would give them their best.

The vice president was at the Stars final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium before leaving for Kinshasa, via Togo, on Thursday, for Sunday's African Nations Cup qualifier against their Congolese counterparts.

" With our support and your ability, the sky would be the limit, because we are prepared to put everything at your disposal both financial and moral to ensure qualification to the next African Nations Cup and the World Cup."

"President John Agyekum Kuffour had wanted to be with you, but had to attend some meetings at the eleventh hour. He promised to meet the whole team in a fitting welcome on your return from Kinshasa," Alhaji Mahama assured them. In response, acting captain, Sam Johnson thanked the Vice President for his visit and promised that they would do all they can to ensure victory in Kinshasa. In their last trial match the stars beat African Stars 5-0.

Ishmael Addo scored two of the five goals while Osei Kuffour, Baffour Gyan, and Steven Appiah scored one each. Speaking to the GNA Sports, Coach Jones Attuquayefio, expressed his satisfaction at the training so far, even though he does not have the full compliment of his foreign based players.

On his expectations, Jones said matches between the two have been very tight and does not expect anything different on Sunday. "All the players in camp will make the trip and we are expecting Hans Adu Sarpei to join us there," he added
