Ghanaian boxer Richard Oblitey Commey lost to American Robert Easter Jr in the vacant international Boxing Federation (IBF) Lightweight title at the Santander arena in Pennsylvania (USA).

In a fascinating and competitive bout, number 4 IBF Robert Easter Jr. (17-0, 14 KOs) defeated number 3 IBF Richard Commey (24-1, 22 KOs) by a 12 round split decision on Friday night to win the vacant International Boxing Federation lightweight title at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The judges scored the fight 115-112 114-113 for Easter and 114-113 for Commey. The fight was televised by Premier Boxing Champions on Spike.

Easter was knocked down in the 8th round by a right hand from Commey. Easter looked like the better fighter in the first half of the fight, but Commey came on to make it close by dominating most of the 2nd half of the fight. Easter spent too much time throwing single power shots, and not putting his hands together.

In the 12th round, Easter buckled Commey’s legs after nailing him with a big right hand to the head. Commey was able to hold on to get out of the round. Commey even came back a little in the last minute to get the better of Easter.
