Upper East Region Will Shock The Country At The National Sports Festival

Head Coach for the Upper East Regional Senior High School Team, Peter Abilba has told Journalists that the Upper East Team has what it takes to get to the finals of the National Sports Festival to be hosted by the Upper West region from August 26 to September 6, 2015.

According to him many of the players have been exposed to competitive football matches and vigorous training since they were little children and will not see the National Sport Festival as too big for them.

"I have a strong feeling that these boys will make the region and their Clubs proud at the festival. Many people will wonder where they are coming from and will trace them to the Upper East region."

Seven players from FC TANGA's Junior Team have been selected to play various crucial roles in the Upper East Regional Team. Over the years, players from FC TANGA have been selected to play in the Regional Team.

The FC TANGA Junior Team players are, Strikers Osman Nashiru and Shadrack Tanoh, Midfielders Dominic Nsobila, Augustine Awiah and Yakubu Mohammed. The rest are Left Full-Back, Benjamin Aloma and sensational Goal Keeper, Fuseini Sadat (alias Abinchi.)

Upper East region is placed in Group B, together with teams from Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo, Volta and Greater Accra regions. Group A is made up of Regional Senior High School teams from Western, Eastern, Northern, Central and host Upper West region.

According to Coach Peter Abilba the seven players from Junior side of FC TANGA, have justified their inclusion in the regional team.

"These are not players that are being forced to be there at all cost. They have always delivered and they deserve their inclusion and the roles they are playing in the regional team. They know they stand a chance of being promoted to the Senior Team of their Club if they improve on their play and form, and so am not surprised they are playing that well."

Coach Peter Abilba noted that, adding these boys to other equally good players from other schools and Clubs, the Upper East region can be sure of a good representation at the National Senior High School Sports Festival at Wa in the Upper West region.

As part of their preparation, the Regional Senior High School Team played a friendly match with a First Division side, Bolgatanga All Stars and drew 1:1. The team will also be playing a Second Division side FC TANGA on Friday August 21, 2015.

This match is an important one for the young players, especially the 7 players who need to prove their worth to FC TANGA Management will come to the field to watch the match.
