U17 world cup winning captain moves to Vietnam

Khanh Hoa football club of Vietnam has signed Emmanuel Bentil, the former captain of U17 Ghana, which won the World Young Football Championship in 1995.

However, after his success at the World Young Football Championship in 1995, the career of striker Bentil was not bright at all. He played for some clubs in Germany, Russia and the US as a reserve player before going to El Salvador and now, Vietnam.

Chief coach of Khanh Hoa club, Le Huu Tuong, said that he couldn’t comment on the newcomer as the team had only tested Bentil for several days.

“Emmanuel Bentil is now 29 years old so I worry most about his health,” Mr Tuong said.

With the height of 1.75m, Bentil is expected to replace Nigerian striker Teslim Babatunde Fatusi, who was dismissed from Khanh Hoa club due to poor performance.

“I hope Emmanuel Bentil will help Khanh Hoa score more goals in upcoming matches,” Mr Tuong said.
