U17@Peru: Virgin Mary's portrait to Starlets

Trujillo, September 16, GNA - Dr Juan Namoc Medina, the Mayor of the City of Trujillo in Peru on Thursday presented a portrait of Virgin Mary to Ghana's Black Starlets as a symbol of peace and love during the tournament.

Dr Medina made the presentation to the officials of the team during their last training towards the crucial encounter against Peru on early Saturday morning.

The Mayor said the portrait of Virgin Mary would always remind the team and its officials about Peru 2005, and it would also enhance cordial relationship between the two countries.

Dr Medina wished the Starlets the best of luck and said "I hope Peru can play Ghana again in the finals".

Mr Emmanuel Gyimah, Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) who received the portrait on behalf of the team expressed gratitude to the Mayor and said the portrait of the Virgin Mary was a sign of victory for Ghana against Peru.
