U-23 Eagles To Host Ghana

An international friendly match is on the card between Daniel Amokachi?s U-23 Olympic Eagles and their Ghanaian counterparts, as gathered by reports The proposed fixture, we can report, is coming on the bill of Kanu Hearts Foundation, K.H.F, as part of fund raising programmes for the foundation.

Findings revealed that Abuja National Stadium is being proposed as venue for the friendly tie slated to hold on December 13, 2006.

Already, the foundation has despatched letters to this effect to Honourable Sports and Social Development Minister, Bala Ka?oje as well as NFA boss, Sanni Lulu Abdullahi, asking for their approval and release of the Abuja National Stadium for the game.

Pastor Onyebuchi Abia, Executive Secretary of Kanu Heart Foundation, K.H.F confirmed it when newsmen visited their new office at No. 80 Allen Avenue, Lagos.

?We have written a letter to the NFA Chairman, Sani Lulu and the Minister of Sports, Bala Ka?oje to this effect,? Abia, himself a veteran journalist hinted.

?What we are asking is for the approval of the match to hold as it will form part of the U-23 team?s preparation build ups.

?And again, we are asking for the stadium to be made available to us on compassionate grounds.

?This is not the first time the foundation is bringing such friendly ties to Nigerian teams.

?If you recall, sometime in 2000, we brought the Arsenal Ladies to play here against the Falcons and in 2001, we ensured that the Brazilian U-17 engaged the Golden Eaglets here in Lagos.

?So this (U-23 versus Ghana) is yet one of our contributions to move our football forward,? the K.H.F scribe said.
