Accra, Aug 4, GNA - Defending Top Four Champions, Kpando Heart

of Lions have so far accrued only two points in a possible six in their

campaign to retain the trophy but coach Ken Botchway insists the team's

dream of annexing the trophy is still intact.

Lions dropped two points in the two-game old competition after

drawing with Ashgold in mid-week and their title defence seem to be

under threat but coach Botchway thinks otherwise.

Coach Botchway told the GNA Sports after their match with Ashgold

on Wednesday that "It is not time to give up. Football is full of

uncertainties and it is important to keep believing in ourselves and do

our best to retain the title".

Lions would become the first club to successfully defend the trophy in the nine-year old event if they emerge victors in the four team

competition previously won by Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante

Kotoko among others.

Coach Botchway is well aware that to achieve this feat means

translating play into goals and he tells GNA Sports "it is a new team and

the transition from the old experienced squad to a fairly new one makes

this difficult".

He said he aims at working on the team's potency upfront to ensure

they hit their stride well on time to keep their dream of making history

intact.

The coach said his charges will take it a game at a time and hope

their next match against League Champions, Aduana Stars in Accra will

mark the turning point in their quest to start recording victories.

Lions clew back to draw two all with the Phobians on the tourney's

opener at the Ohene Djan stadium last Sunday and drew barren with the

Miners in the second game to remain on two points.
